Obama offered the nation's thoughts and prayers to victims and their families

(Washington, DC) -- President Obama calls the Boston explosions a "heinous and cowardly act" and an "act of terrorism." In a White House statement, the President said a full investigation continues and again vowed to find and bring those responsible to justice. Three people were killed and more than 150 were injured in two blasts near the finish line of the Boston Marathon.
The President has been getting regular briefings on the Boston explosions by his national security team and FBI Director Robert Mueller. Obama offered the nation's thoughts and prayers to victims and their families. He praised first responders and good Samaritans who rushed to the aid of victims after the blasts.
