The alleged shooter and two other women are reportedly deceased

() Authorities say three people died Monday morning in a shooting at the New Castle County Courthouse in Wilmington, Delaware.

The alleged shooter and two other women are reportedly deceased. Wilmington Mayor Dennis Williams says one of the women was the suspect’s estranged wife.

According to WPVI News, the tragedy happened around 8:15 this morning at the courthouse located at 500 N King Street.

Wilmington police Cpl. Jamaine Crawford said a man entered the courthouse and opened fire. Two women and a security guard were reportedly shot, and the guard’s condition is unknown.

The suspect did not make it past the metal detectors, Sgt. Paul Shavack noted, but a brief firefight ensued between officers and the suspect in the lobby.

Two officers were wounded during the exchange, but are expected to survive.  It is not yet clear whether the suspect died after being shot by police, or whether he took his own life.
