Members of the Marion City Police Dept. are currently working a homicide case more than a week after a local man's sudden death.
Officials say Timothy Daso, 64, was assaulted in the parking lot of the Towne House Tavern after drinking there on St. Patrick's Day. It wasn't until two days later, on March 19, that Daso's sister checked up on him and found him dead in his apartment.
Maj. Bill Collins said following the assault, Daso went home without seeking medical treatment and his death was not ruled a homicide until his sister had police investigate Daso's body at the funeral home.
Collins said he had broken ribs and a lacerated spleen, with an autopsy confirming he died of blunt force trauma. Officers are now asking potential witnesses to come forward.
