When the current school year comes to an end, it will be the end of an era at Elgin Local Schools.

Elgin will open their new K-12 building this fall but before they close the doors for good on their current school buildings, former students are getting the chance to roam the halls one last time.

According to officials at Elgin, community members are invited to several open houses for three of their old schools. Here's the schedule, according to ElginSchools.org.

Elgin South Elementary 

-Walkthrough open house on Sunday, March 17 from 2 p.m.–4 p.m.

-Closing Ceremony will be held on Sunday, May 19 from 2 p.m.–4 p.m.

Elgin West Elementary 

-Walkthrough open house on Sunday, March 17 from 4 p.m.–6 p.m.

-Closing Ceremony, in combination with LaRue Alumni, will be held on Saturday, June 1 from 3 p.m.

Elgin Junior High

-Walkthrough open house on Thursday, April 4 at 6 p.m.

-Closing Ceremony will take place on Thursday, May 2 at 6 p.m.
